FAQ
Before you ask
Do I have to link an account?
No. Your rating alone produces a diagnosis. Linking simply makes it far more precise, because your recent games hold the answer. Even then we read only public data and never ask for your password.
I play on Lichess, not Chess.com.
Both work. Ratings are normalised internally before diagnosis. We do not show you a cross-site conversion, though — no accurate one exists.
Is my rating too low?
No. Lower bands actually diagnose more cleanly because the causes are sharper. We cover roughly 400 through 1800+.
What if the diagnosis is wrong?
When your rating alone is inconclusive we do not guess — we offer a live diagnosis instead. A few puzzles or one game usually settles it. Low-confidence findings are labelled as possibilities.
What is this based on?
Chess.com's official study guides (NM Robert Ramirez, WGM Dina Belenkaya, CM Can Kabadayi) plus Lichess open data and its puzzle database. Each prescription shows its source on the results page.
Does it cost anything?
The diagnosis is free. Everything is free during beta, and we will tell you before any paid plan appears.
